Fashion Meets Future: Metro Boutique Launches Switzerland’s First AI Cinema Spot
The world of advertising is undergoing a seismic shift. Where once traditional film crews, cameras, and costly studio productions dominated, today campaigns emerge from hybrid production worlds of prompting, neural networks, and digital avatars. With its latest project for Swiss fashion retailer Metro Boutique, AMA AI Media Agency sets a bold marker: starting in September, one of the first fully AI-generated commercials in Switzerland will light up cinema screens—a 15-second spot that spectacularly brings Metro Boutique’s iconic, previously 2D-illustrated cats to life.
The Challenge
Metro Boutique is known for its young, urban, style-conscious audience. Until now, the brand had relied on striking 2D cat illustrations in public transport advertising. Translating these characters into motion for the big screen posed a double challenge: capturing attention in the immersive setting of a cinema, while simultaneously reinterpreting and evolving the brand identity.
The Solution
AMA AI Media Agency created bespoke AI avatar models for each cat, designed to be animated from multiple perspectives through precise prompting. These virtual felines dance, skate, play music, and brawl like real urban kids in a back alley. The sequences are deliberately exaggerated and dynamically cut, channeling the lifestyle that Metro Boutique stands for: fashion as an expression of attitude, movement, and experience.
Producing with AI – Opportunities and Boundaries
The spot exemplifies how AI-driven 3D generation diverges from conventional workflows. Where traditional 3D animation demands high budgets and long render times, AI tools enable far greater efficiency. The challenge, however, lies in consistency: characters must remain coherent across shots, backgrounds must blend seamlessly. This requires not only the right tools, but also deep expertise in prompt engineering and media production.
Notably, not only the animations but also the music, sound effects, and voice-over were generated with AI systems. Only editing, sound mixing, and final post-production were handled traditionally. Technical limitations—such as the lack of native 4K output in many AI models—were overcome with workarounds. The production demonstrates two key points: first, that AI tools in professional hands can deliver market-ready results; and second, that AI is no replacement for human expertise, but rather a powerful instrument and amplifier of creative ideas.
Impact and Outcome
The result is an energetic commercial with an unexpected twist ending, showcasing the cats “in full effect”—wild, playful, alive. It is more than advertising; it is a manifesto for the fusion of creativity and AI technology.
AMA as First Mover
With this project, AMA AI Media Agency underscores its role as a first mover in the field of AI content creation. Having already gained international attention with short films, AMA now strengthens its position in its home market of Switzerland: media innovation from St. Gallen with global resonance.
